Here's the scoop on what we know so far.

If you ever drive on the West Loop near Earl Campbell Pkwy, you've probably wondered what the slow-moving big project just north of Sam's Club is going to be.
Bellwood will be a 543-acre mixed-use development that is finally moving ahead with its first phase consisting of a new format 3rd generation Brookshire's grocery store, as well as a variety of other fast-food, retailers, auto, medical, and other services.
So far, trees have been cleared, and work has been progressing on building roads and utilities on the land in preparation for the construction of businesses to commence. Chick-fil-A appears to be the first one out of the gate, with construction underway.
What Else Will Bellwood's Retail Center Offer?
Based on permit filings, real estate listings, and news coverage, we have put together a list of the businesses that have signed on so far:
Brookshires - new 3rd generation format full-size grocery store
Chick-fil-A (currently under construction)
Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
7 Brew Coffee
Smalls Sliders (first Tyler location)
Dillas Quesadillas (first Tyler location)
Teriyaki Madness (first Tyler location)
Salad And Go (first Tyler location)

Xpress Car Wash
Several sites have not yet been taken, so more is coming.
But, That's Not All

The first phase of the retail component is only a relatively small piece of what is envisioned for the property. While details are limited at this point, the long-term plans for Bellwood include:
Specialty retail
Restaurant spaces
Professional & medical office space
Hotels
500 single-family residential lots
Multi-family housing
Senior living
Active adult community
Bellwood's 543 acres make it a significant addition to the west side of Tyler that should jump-start additional development in that area.
When Will It Be Open?
A contractor at the site told us that construction of the roads and infrastructure for the retail center is nearing completion and that more businesses will be breaking ground soon, including the long-delayed Brookshires.
The first businesses should be open by summer with most or all of the retail center completed by the end of 2025.
Future phases of Bellwood have not yet been announced, so stay tuned for details when they become available.
